On Earth Day at Leysin American School, our tradition of planting trees for silvo pasture took a twist. Snow blanketed our garden, delaying our tree-planting plans. Yet, undeterred, we planted seedlings, fostering a deeper connection to nature. As students dug into the soil, they pondered the effort behind each apple, cherry, and nut. This hands-on experience instilled appreciation and mindfulness about food sources. Our 30+ trees, a blend of native species and fruit trees, symbolize our commitment to sustainability. Amidst grazing goats, sheep, and calves, our ecosystem thrives, capturing carbon and nurturing habitats. Earth Day echoes a vital message: stewardship and respect for nature must become the definition of success in society.
